Hello Friends,
I'm new here, but have read Elfquest since I was a wee little girl old enough to steal father's comics. I remember the day I found elfquest, I remember the moment of it exactly. A few weeks ago I found this tribe here and then started doing some random searches. I of course came across www.elfquest.com/ and joined there as well.
I hadn't read Elfquest for a few years, having moved out of my parent's house and left them behind (though just last week I requested they be dug out of the attic so I can take them home and properly care for them!). I re-read the only two books I have, book four of the collected edition of the original series and the first Blood of Ten Chiefs collected stories.
In doing so I realized just how much Elfquest has shaped my life. From my job (Reiki practitioner and massage therapist) to my strongest totem animal (duh, wolf, heh), to my taste in men (that long hair gets me in trouble every time!).
I also realized that I've been searching for my soul name for some time now. Anyhow! This is a long long post I'm sorry!
My point was, I'm wondering if anyone here has found a soul name. I'm not asking what it is, but if there was any particular way you went about it. I'm not about to walk someone else's path, but I would love to hear your stories for inspiration :)
thanks!!

Re: Finding the Soul Name
Thu, May 5, 2005 - 11:45 PMWhen I was in training to become a Life Coach, one of the exercises that we did was to visualize our future selves - to see ourselves 10-20 years down the line, at a time when we had fulfilled our vision for our lives. There was a lot of inquery involved, and one of the questions was, "What is your nickname?"
Mine was LoveJoy, and I've used that name on many occassions because it fits so well, and a lot of my friends like it, too.
I hope you find yours. :) -

Re: Finding the Soul Name
Fri, May 6, 2005 - 5:10 AMThanks :) LoveJoy, that's a wonderful one! I like the visualization that you describe, mostly for the 10-20 years down the road part. I think maybe part of my problem is that things I'm working on are getting too much in the way of me hearing my name. Placing it out like that.. it's hopeful, goal oriented, and possitive. Doesn't get marred by what evers going on in the 'right now'.
Thanks for this! Will do some searching :)

Re: Finding the Soul Name
Thu, July 28, 2005 - 12:51 AMsoul names are very real.
they come to me thru sending, and never thru verbalization. there are a few beings in my life who have names i call them, and then also names that instantly come to mind when i think of them.
those are soul names, i believe.
i've yet to speak one out loud to those in my life i've experienced this for.

Re: Finding the Soul Name
Thu, July 28, 2005 - 9:01 AMI did a past life meditation once where I met someone and had their name bounce around in my head constantly. I still haven't met this person IRL...
I've had other people's soul names come up at me as well :) It's a lovely thing! -

Re: Finding the Soul Name
Sun, January 28, 2007 - 8:17 PMYes, I have found my soul name ... Soul names for us, I believe, are just the same as we read them in Elfquest. They are the keys to our innermost selves. They go deeper and farther than given names, pet names, Craft names, or any other name. The soul name is one that the gods know us by, and I recognized it as such the moment that I found mine. And, as in Elfquest, we may find only a portion of soul name when the search begins - then later, as time goes by, we find more of it. Our soul name is what completes us within ourselves, just as a soul mate may complete us in a particular lifetime. -

Re: Finding the Soul Name
Mon, March 5, 2007 - 2:15 PMMine came to me when I was in my teens, during a very powerful dream that seemed to be of a traumatic past lif experience. I heard the name repeated 3 times by a female voice as if it was reverberating though my whole being. I have invoked in silently in my magical work, or when alone. I have never found anyone to share it with. -

Re: Finding the Soul Name
Thu, March 8, 2007 - 10:00 PMI found mine while meditating. I just decided I wanted to know what it was, I guess. A couple of years later, I was walking in the woods and I really zoned inot my sould name and what I felt it meant about who I am. About a decade after that walk, I was doing a PLR with a couple of students and met an old old lady who called me by my entire soul name. Looked at me like I was silly for not knowing my complete soul name.
As it turns out, a similar experience is referenced in the EQ anthologies, Blood of Ten Chiefs. Apparently, due to their tie to the earthly world, Wolfriders only hear part of their soul name when they find it. Even though their parents hear the entire name when the child is born.
Hmmmm...

Re: Finding the Soul Name
Fri, February 15, 2008 - 10:04 AMI too started reading Elfquest relatively young, it was always one of the more interesting stories of my forming and informative years, rather motivational in a spiritual side when other things seemed so constrained and strict. Many thing can be said about the soul names themselves, it's only once you've really had a chance to examine yourself, who you are, listen to what other people say they've noticed about you too, because really the view from outside can be helpful as well (just don't let it get to you if they say negative things too, just means something to build on, or y'know..ignore ;) ) taking as much information as you can, and seeing what name really pops out at you. It took me a long time to figure out what my name would be, I actually found it in a japanese form and translated into english. Two simple words that just seem to put me together, even though my totem animal is wolf as well.
I found my soul name, sometimes it's as plain as the nose on your face, sometimes you have to search.
